THE BATTLE THAT
CHANGED HISTORY
Flush with his victory at Fort Ticonderoga, General John
Burgoyne was confident he could stop the American rebellion once
and for all. Instead, on October 17, 1777, after days of
terrible fighting, he surrendered to the Americans at Saratoga -
ranked as one of the 15 most decisive battles in world history.
"Saratoga
Springs is the perfect setting for a military association
meeting. It’s like a picture out of a Norman Rockwell painting
and close to so many military and historic sites. The local
people are charming, and the active duty military is eager to
participate in helping with reunion presentations.”
George H. Gasser
USS Saratoga
"My
ship’s reunion in Saratoga will be hard to match. We are still
receiving letters and comments from shipmates saying what a
memorable experience they had here. Saratoga Springs is the
greatest little city in the State of New York as far as I’m
concerned.”
The Late Peter Montalvo
Founder of the USS Yorktown (CV-5) Club &
Survivor of the battles of
Coral Sea and Midway
