Gin Blossoms to headline free kick-off concert on Wednesday, June 4

Saratoga Springs, N.Y. — Belmont on Broadway will for a second year in a row kick-off the 2025 Belmont Stakes Racing Festival, according to leaders in the Spa City.

Belmont on Broadway, a free concert, is slated for June 4, from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. with performances by Gin Blossoms and Uprooted to take place on Broadway in Saratoga Springs.

Gin Blossoms is an American alternative rock band formed in 1987 which rose to prominence following the 1992 release of their first major label album, New Miserable Experience, and the first single released from that album, “Hey Jealousy,” went gold and became a Top 25 hit. The band’s single, “As Long As It Matters,” was nominated for a Grammy Award.

The Uprooted Band featuring Michael Glabicki is carrying on the legacy of Rusted Root’s energetic music. Rusted Root, led by Michael, built their career around dramatic performances; their polyrhythmic, multicultural rock-and-soul picked up fans like a junkyard magnet as they swept across the nation on tour.

The 2025 Belmont on Broadway kick-off concert was revealed during an announcement event on Thursday morning at Saratoga Springs City Hall.

This year’s concert will start at approximately 7 p.m. and end at 10 p.m., with a stage on Broadway adjacent to the City Center. Broadway will be closed from Van Dam to City Hall most likely all day Wednesday starting early in the morning to install the stage.

Highlighted by the 157th running of the Grade 1, $2 million Belmont Stakes presented by NYRA Bets on Saturday, June 7, the Belmont Stakes Racing Festival will be conducted at Saratoga Race Course from Wednesday, June 4 through Sunday, June 8. The festival will include 27 stakes races with purses totaling $11,275,000, the richest purses and highest number of stakes offered since the launch of the Belmont Stakes Racing Festival in 2014.

“The 2025 Belmont Stakes Racing Festival was one of the most memorable and exciting weekends in the history of the Saratoga Race Course, and we are thrilled to be able to return this June,” said David O’Rourke, NYRA President & CEO. “Thanks to the hard work of our elected officials and local leaders, Saratoga is once again ready to deliver a world-class experience for returning fans and newcomers to the region alike. As was evident last year, the event will generate important economic impact and drive tourism outside of the traditional racing season for the benefit of the region’s economy.”

Saratoga County Board of Supervisors Chairman Phil Barrett (Clifton Park) said, “Belmont on Broadway showcases Saratoga Springs and Saratoga County as a preeminent destination for entertainment, recreational, cultural and historical attractions. As visitors enjoy Saratoga Springs, world-class racing, tranquil trails that traverse throughout the County, a rich Revolutionary heritage they can also learn more about the upcoming 250th Anniversary of the Battles of Saratoga initiative. The Saratoga County Board of Supervisors are thankful for our partners at the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce, Discover Saratoga, Saratoga Economic Development Corporation, the Saratoga Springs Downtown Business Association and the Saratoga Springs City Center for coordinating this event.”
