The first-ever National Schools Championship regatta on Fish Creek had everything going for its inaugural weekend. The event, created by the newly formed National Scholastic Rowing Association, was blessed with wonderful weather, flat water and fast times from the qualifying entries.
The regatta hosts, the Saratoga Rowing Association, couldn’t have asked for any more as the boathouse claimed a total of 24 medals over the weekend along party lines, 12 for the boys and 12 for the girls.
The inaugural event invited the top high school qualifiers from regional championship regattas to race on the 1,500-meter buoyed sprint race course, some for the first-time ever due to conflicting dates.
