To those unfamiliar with Saratoga’s heart, winter can easily be mistaken as the city’s quietest, even most uneventful, time of year. But that couldn’t be further from the truth! Although the track may be settled and the Carousel closed, your little horse won’t think it queer to stop by any of these snowy Saratoga events!
In excess of the typical sledding, skiing, and ice skating opportunities, locals and visitors alike are invited to mingle in the merriment of some of the cities most enjoyable (and memorable!) happenings.
Victorian Streetwalk: November 29, 2013 A night unlike any other, Victorian Streetwalk takes over Broadway and brings to life the enchanting approach to the holiday season that dominated more than a century ago. With hoop skirts, holiday characters, and live music at every turn, the one-night event offers more than 50 entertainment venues, including a section designated for the ever-anticipated Festival of Trees. Be sure to get there early, as the event (and the line to visit Mr. & Mrs. Clause) are always packed!
Chowderfest: February 2, 2013 Supplementing the annual Winterfest in Saratoga is this awesome chowder-filled event. In 2011, more than sixty different vendors served up thousands of cups of chowder made from highly coveted recipes. Participants traipse through the crowded, snowy city side to various locations where they get a delicious 3 oz. serving for mere a $1 each! You can pick up a ballot at any of the participating establishments, vote for your favorite, and later attend the Awards Ceremony to see which local favorite is to take home the gold!
Beer Week: February 19-23, 2013 Think Oktoberfest…in February! With pub-crawls, brewers meetings, mug club events, and more samples than you can imagine, Beer Week is a favorite for hop-lovers all over the Northeast. Last year’s event featured two sessions of the Saratoga Beer Summit, a 3-hour tasting tour from brews around the world!
