A Leaf-Peeping Guestbook: Have an artist who is close to you draw a leaf-less tree in whatever medium you prefer during a trip to Saratoga Paint and Sip Studio. On the guest book table, leave three colors of inkpads in your favorite fall colors, as well as a stack of pens, instructions, and wet cloths. As each guest comes in, they’ll pad a finger with one of the colors, leave their fingerprint somewhere on the tree, and sign their name nearby in small font. At the end of the day, you’ll be left with a colorful autumn tree made up of all your loved ones’ fingerprints! Matte, frame, and enjoy the memories.
Opt for Leaves Instead of Flowers: You needn’t rely on real leaves – they make some pretty believable fakes these days. We think you should still use some flowers, but leaves make a great replacement or supplement for many of the places you could use flowers. For instance, down the isle, in your centerpieces, or (our favorite) in the bottom of your flower girl’s dress are all great autumn leaf locales.
Stock A Fall Bar: There are so many flavored liquors available today, many of which can be a great compliment to your autumn theme. From Saratoga National to Bookmakers at the Holiday Inn, ask that your caterer serve specialty drinks like Pumpkin Spice Martinis, Big Apple Manhattans, or a more complicated Harvest Moon. For your guests who aren’t alcohol privy, offer warm spiced apple cider as an alternative or compliment to post-dinner coffee.
Monogrammed Pumpkins: Forget the jack-o-lantern, pumpkins can become a fabulous and elegant decorating accessory for a fall wedding when done right. Grab some perfect pumpkins from Ellms Family Farm and instead of cutting off the tops, as is traditionally done, carve a hole in the bottom of the pumpkin so that you can subsequently place the pumpkin over a pillar candle. Next, delicately carve the bride and groom’s monogram on the front of the pumpkin. Before the reception, have all of the candles lit and you event will have a wonderful, soft glow all night long!
