The Heritage Area Visitor Center produces a variety of tours that are educational and fun.
Our “History, Legends, Lore and More” guided walking tour takes participants on a stroll through 200 years of history in 90 minutes! Tours meet at the Saratoga Heritage Area Visitor Center, 297 Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY. From there, the tour will continue to historic Congress Park where tour participants will learn how Saratoga Springs evolved from the sacred Native American healing ground to the “City in the Country” that it is today. Our guide will share stories about the movers and shakers of the past two hundred years and how they contributed to the preservation and growth of Saratoga Springs. Additionally, participants will be provided with an opportunity to “take the waters” from the famed mineral springs!
This guided walking tour is offered Monday – Saturday, from late June through mid-October and is appropriate for ages 12 and up. Advance registration is not required, and the cost is only $8.00 pp for adults; children 12 and under are free. Tours are open to the public. Guided walking tours are also available throughout the year for groups of 10 or more by appointment. A great event for convention attendees, class reunions, family reunions or staff outings.
Note: the tour route and duration require the participants' ability to walk or stand on some uneven terrain for 90 minutes. For individuals who prefer a seated tour, our Guided Trolley Tour is a perfect alternative! See details below.
