Saratoga Springs, N.Y. – Organizers of Belmont on Broadway shared more details about safety protocols for the Belmont Stakes Racing Festival kick-off concert, on Wednesday, June 4 on Broadway in Saratoga Springs. The 2025 Belmont on Broadway free concert will start at 7 p.m. with Uprooted followed by Gin Blossoms at 8:30 p.m. The concert will conclude at 10:00 p.m.
“We changed the Belmont on Broadway start time to 7 p.m. this year to allow locals and visitors attending this free concert an extra hour to shop or dine out downtown to support our local businesses,” said Todd Shimkus, President/CEO of the Saratoga County Chamber. “Last year, we had a great crowd downtown and still saw that there was plenty of parking available in our garages, surface lots and side streets. Those who can walk downtown are certainly encouraged to do that as well.”
Broadway will be closed for this event between Van Dam Street and Lake Avenue - from approximately 5 a.m. on Wednesday, June 4 to 2 a.m. on Thursday, June 5 - for the installation of the stage, which will be located adjacent to the Saratoga Springs City Center. Additional road closures will begin at 5 p.m. extending south on Broadway to Washington and Spring Streets and as necessary on side streets with access to Broadway in this area. Detours will be available to motorists. Saratoga Springs Police Department will release detailed information regarding road closures and traffic detours on their social media pages and Nixle.
To increase the safety of all, organizers ask that people attending this free concert not bring coolers, backpacks, large bags, strollers, pets, glass bottles, alcohol, or weapons of any kind. There is ample space to watch the concert from locations on the street - Broadway - and attendees should use the sidewalks solely for walking. Individuals who require a seat are asked to bring a folding chair that is not inside of a bag. For the enjoyment of all, organizers also ask that those inside the event space refrain from smoking. Leaving a bar or restaurant with alcohol is not permitted.
Additionally, flight restrictions have been put in place for unmanned aircraft (drones) during the concert. The restriction is in effect from 1 p.m. to 12 a.m. on June 4. The restricted area is a .5NM radius from Broadway in front of the City Center. Any pilots seeking to launch unmanned aircraft within the restricted area must request authorization to do so.
This special celebration is a collaborative effort between Discover Saratoga, Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce, Saratoga Springs Downtown Business Association (DBA), Saratoga Springs City Center, Saratoga Economic Development Corporation (SEDC), and the city of Saratoga Springs.
