Top 10 Fall Family Activities in Saratoga County

With the cooler days brings changing leaves, corn mazes, apple cider donuts, and so much more in Saratoga County’s fall season. And it’s perfect for families – here’s ten of the best ways to spend a fall day together, from working farms to a carousel ride downtown.

1. Children's Museum at Saratoga (Saratoga Springs): Two floors of hands-on exhibits including a mock grocery store, a fire station, a farm stand, and an ice cream parlor. A great rainy-day fallback.
2. Congress Park Carousel (Saratoga Springs): A classic carousel ride in the heart of Congress Park, on weekends through Halloween after Labor Day. Pair it with a walk to enjoy the park's fall colors.
3. Bowman Orchards (Rexford): 46 varieties of apples across 98 acres, plus u-pick pumpkins, a petting zoo, hayrides, and fresh apple cider donuts.
4. Ellms Family Farm (Ballston Spa): Opening on September 19, 2026, don’t miss their Amazing Maize corn maze, the Pumpkin Express train ride, a jump park, a u-pick pumpkin patch, and more.
5. Maple Bros. at Twin Leaf Farms (Greenfield Center): A family farm dating to 1835, stop by for some delicious, sweet treats including maple syrup, popcorn, candy, and other maple products. 
6. Saratoga Corinth & Hudson Railway (Corinth): A scenic excursion train along a historic 1864 rail line, traveling about seven miles through the Southern Adirondack foothills. A relaxed, all-ages way to take in fall colors.
7. Revolution Rail Co. (Hadley): Pedal a custom-built rail bike along repurposed train tracks through the Adirondack foothills. An easy adventure that works for every age.
8. Saratoga National Historical Park (Stillwater): Kids can complete the Junior Ranger booklet and earn a badge while exploring the Revolutionary War battlefield. A hands-on history day for the whole family.
9. Saratoga Spa State Park (Saratoga Springs): Miles of easy walking trails through mineral springs and towering pines. It’s especially beautiful (and easy on little legs) in the fall colors.
10. The 25^th Annual Fall Fest (Saturday, October 24, 2026, on Broadway in downtown Saratoga Springs): This annual celebration for the entire family features trick-or-treating at local downtown shops, a pumpkin scavenger hunt, live music, and the famous Pumpkin Roll down Caroline Street.
